xpdiver and Sarah Share their Phuket Tsunami Survival Story
(25 January 2005)
On 26 December 2004, one of the most powerful earthquakes
in history hit Asia, unleashing a giant tsunami which devastated
coastal areas of Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia and tourist
islands in Thailand, killing some 12,000 people and leaving
tens of thousands homeless.
A month later, xpdiver and Sarah who were at the scene
in Phuket during the tsunami returned to Hong Kong and shared
their stories in a reunion gathering with our members. Video
clips shot after the Tsunami was shown in the gathering
and we all had a glimpse of the latest situation in the
once familiar Phuket, Similan and Khao Lak.
A total of 32 members showed up in this little gathering
and HK$4,520 was raise in the DVD charity sale for tsunami
relief. |
